    Using the fraction wall above, can you say which is bigger, 1/3 or 2/8? By how much? 1/3 is bigger than 2/8 by 1/24.

    Which is smaller, 5/6 or 3/4? By how much? 3/4 is smaller by 1/12.

    What is the difference between 5/6 and 1/3? 7/12

    What is three quarters of 2/3? Can you explain how you worked this out? 6/12 is three quarters of 2/3. To get this, I first got how much one quarter was, than I multiplyed it by three.

    Find some other fractions which are equivalent to 3/4. 30/40,

    Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions? Yes, just multiply both the numerator and the denominator by the same number, and you will get an equivalent fraction.

    Which is bigger,⅓ , or 2/8? By how much? ⅓ is bigger, by ½ of an eighth
    Which is smaller, ¾ , or ⅚?. By how much? ¾ by ½ of a sixth.
    What is the difference between ⅚, and ⅓? 3/6.
    What is ¾ of ⅔? Can you explain how you worked this out? ½ of a third is ¾ of ⅔. I worked this out by separating ⅔ into 4 equal parts.Then I found that it was ½ of a third.

    Using the image above ( On Nrich website.) how many different ways can you find of writing ½? ½, 1 half, one half, one half of a whole, 1 half of a whole.
    From the picture, what equivalent fractions for ⅓ can you find? I’ll name 3. 2/6, 3/9, and 4/12.
    Again, using the image of the fraction wall, how else could you write ¾? ¾ 3 quarters, 3 fourths
    What other fractions do you know that are the same as ½? I’ll name 3. 2/4, 3/6, and 4/8.
    Find some other fractions which are equivalent to ¾. I’ll name 3. 6/8, 9/12, and 12/16
    Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions? Well, you can add that same number, over, and over again to get them.

    What fraction of the original square of paper is the shaded triangle? I can’t find the exact answer so my estimate is 1/32.

    Answers:
    1. ⅓ is bigger than 2/8 by 2 twenty-fourths.
    2. ¾ is smaller than ⅚ by one twelfth.
    3. The difference between ⅚ and ⅓ is 3/6 or 6/12 or 12/24
    4. 3/6 is 3 quarters of ⅔. I know this because 4/6 make up ⅔ so
    3/6 = ¾ of ⅔

  8. FRACTIONS MADE FASTER:
    1. 1/3 is bigger than 2/8. It is bigger by 1/12 of a whole.
    2. 3/4 is smaller than 5/6. It is smaller by 1/12 of a whole.
    3. 1/3 is smaller than 5/6 by 6/12 of a whole.
    4. Three quarters of 2/3 is 3/6. I worked this out by looking at 2/3 on the Fraction Chart, then looked for the closest equivalent fraction for 2/3, which was 4/6. Since we need 3/4 of 1/3, I subtracted 1/6 from the 4/6 to get 3/4 of 2/3.

    FRACTION WALL:
    1. 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, 12/24, one half, two fourths, four eights, six twelfths, twelve twenty-fourths.
    2. 2/6, 4/12, 8/24.
    3. 6/8, 9/12, 18/24.
    4. 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, 12/24.
    5. 36/48, 72/96, 144/192, 288/384 etc... ( I just continuously multiplied by 2)
    6. Two simple rules that you can use to get Equivalent Fractions are to add the same number to both numbers, for example:

    3+2=5+2=7 ETC.
    4+2=6+2=8 ETC.

    The Second method is to multiply the two numbers by a number each time. For example:

    3 x 2=6 x 2=12 ETC.
    4 x 2=8 x 2=16 ETC.

    BRYONY’S TRIANGLE:

    I actually made the triangle at home, but had no time to write down my answer to this problem. When I made the triangle, I could not get an exact fraction, but from what I saw after unfolding the paper and looking at each folded sections, I can estimate that the shaded part of Bryony’s Triangle is 1/128 of the original paper.

    this out? Three quarters of ⅔ is ½. ⅔ is equivalent to 8/12. 8 divided 3 is 2/12. and that leads to ½.

    Answer - 1 third is larger. It is larger by one twelfth (or two twenty-fourths).
    Question 2 - Which is smaller, 5 sixth or 3 fourths, and by how much?
    Answer - 3 fourths are smaller. It is smaller by one twelfth (or two twenty-fourths).
    Question 3 - What is the difference between five sixths and one third?
    Answer - The difference is three sixths, or six twelfths, or twelve twenty-fourths.
    Question 4 - What is three quarters of two thirds? Can you explain how you worked this out?

    Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions? Yes,To find equivalent fractions you have to multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number. Lets take ½ for instance; 1x3 = 3 and 2x3 = 6 3/6 .Now you have an equivalent fraction to ½. You can also go down. Take 2/4; 2/2= 1 and 4/2 = 2 1/2 Now you have a lower equivalent to 2/4 that is lower.

    A: 1/3 is bigger. It is 1/12 bigger than 2/8.

    Q: Which is smaller, 5/6 or 3/4? By how much?
    A: 5/6 is bigger. It is 1/12 bigger.

    Q: What is the difference between 5/6 and 1/3?
    A: The difference between 5/6 and 1/3 is 1/2.

    Q: What is three quarters of 2/3? Can you explain how you worked this out?
    A: Three quarters of 2/3 is 1/2. First, I found an equivalent fraction for 2/3 that had a larger denominator and a numerator divisible by 4. I came up with 8/12. I then divided 8 by 4, and I got 2. So I know that 1/4 of 2/3 is 2/12. Now, I multiply 2 by 3 to get 6. 6/12. Therefore, three quarters of 2/3 is 6/12 or 1/2.

    2) Fraction Wall
    Q: Using the image above, how many different ways can you find of writing ½?
    A: From using the image, I found 5 different ways to write ½: 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, and 12/24.

    Q: From the picture, what equivalent fractions for ⅓ can you find?
    A: I can find 3 equivalent fractions for ⅓ in the picture. They are 2/6, 4/12, and 8/24.

    Q: Again, using the image of the fraction wall, how else could you write ¾?
    A: Some other ways you can write ¾ are 6/8, 9/12, or 18/24.

    Q: What other fractions do you know that are the same as ½?
    A: Some other fractions that I know that are the same as ½ are 25/50, 16/32, and 34/68 (just to name a few!).

    Q: Find some other fractions which are equivalent to ¾.
    A: Some other fractions that are equivalent to ¾ are 75/100 and 15/20.

    Q: Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions?
    A: I guess the most important rule for working out equivalent fractions is that whatever you do to the numerator, you do to the denominator. Whether you are multiplying or dividing, always follow that rule.

    Q: What fraction of the original square of paper is the shaded triangle?
    A: 1/128 of the original square paper makes up the shaded triangle.

    Answer: I can find several different ways of writing one half: two fourths, three sixths, four eighths, six twelfths, and twelve twenty-fourths.
    Question 2: From the picture, what equivalent fractions for one third can you find?
    Answer: Some equivalent fractions for one third are: two sixths, four twelfths, and eight twenty-fourths.
    Question 3: Again, using the image of the fractional wall, how else could you write three fourths?
    Answer: This is some examples of how you could write three fourths: four and a half sixths, six eighths, nine twelfths, and eighteen twenty-fourths.
    Question 4: What other fractions dou you know that are the same as one half?
    Answer: Another equivalent fraction for one half is one and a half thirds.
    Question 5: Find some other fractions which are equivalent to three fourths.
    Answer: This is another way to write three fourths: four and a half sixths.
    Question 6: Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions?
    Answer: Well, a rule for working out equivalent fractions with a fraction wall is to follow the lines.

    Question:1. Using the fraction wall above, can you say which is bigger, 1/3 or 2/8? By how much?

    1.Using the fraction wall, ⅓ is bigger than 2/8, because the ⅓ piece looks bigger than the 2/8. Also, without using the fraction wall, ⅓= 8/24, and 2/8= 6/24. Therefore ⅓ is bigger.

    2.¾ is smaller than ⅚. ¾ is equivalent to 18/24. ⅚ is equivalent to 20/24, so therefore ¾ is smaller.

    3.The difference between ⅚ and ⅓ is ½. This is because ⅓=2/6. ⅚-2/6=½

    4.Three quarters of

    Fraction Wall:

    1.From the picture, the equivalent fractions of ⅓ is 2/6, 4/12, and 8/24.

    2.From the picture, I could write ¾ as 6/8, and 12/16.

    3. I know that 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12, 7/14, 8/16, 9/18, 10/20, 11/22, and 12/24 are equal to ½ (most of this is without the fraction wall)

    4.Some fractions that are equal to ¾ are: 6/8, 12/16, 24/32, 75/100, 9/12, and much much more.
    5. Here is a “rule” about working out equivalent fractions, you can make another fraction that is equal to the original one by multiplying both the denominator and the numerator by the same number.

    I think that the shaded area is about 1/18 of the original paper.
